About Me
Janice Tisha Samuels is the founder and executive director of the Chicago--based National Youth Art Movement Against Gun Violence, which combines art activism and Augmented Reality technology to provide marginalized youth with the opportunity to be thought leaders in gun violence prevention. Over the past ten years, Janice has progressed her experience as a higher education and educational technology leader through independent projects, fellowship work, and positions of increasing responsibility. Janice has received throughout her life numerous awards for her creative writing and, prior to moving to Chicago, proudly served the city of Takoma Park, MD, a sister community to Washington, DC, as an Arts and Humanities Commissioner for three years both as a member of the commission and then as co-chair.
